"When I wrote the character of Joshua's mother, Anna, I didn't have to look very far for inspiration," says Daniel F. Scherl. "Anna is the most gentle, loving, kind, family-oriented, sweet, cool Mom in the entire world, and so is my Mom. When it came time to shoot, I called her up and said, 'Hey, I want to do something few filmmakers ever get to do and I want to cast my own mother.' She paused and said, 'Well do you think you'll be able to find her?''
