"Angi's death made all of us appreciate life and I think see things in a manner we didn't before. I live much more for the now and don't get caught up in nonsense very much anymore. I also politely escorted some people out the door of my life who were negative and tried to bring me down.
"Life's way too short for anything like that, and we as human beings, just like the characters in Flying Free, have to learn what it means to believe and have faith in love, pursue our dreams and in the end, be accountable to ourselves.
"I really wanted the cast and crew to understand the importance of this film, where it came from, and why I wanted to make it. So what did I do?

"I have always loved the dynamic between the characters, how their relationships are so real and reflective of our own lives as well as the struggles of almost every human being on this planet.
"Another aspect of Flying Free that I think people like is that in the end, it's really a beautiful story. While dramatic, and with its moments of tragedy, it is a story of perseverance, overcoming fear, and love.

Sadly, some of the pains of these characters' lives became all-too real for my family when we lost a sister-in-law to brain cancer at only 39 years old. It was almost surreal for my mother and I to have similar conversations to fictional characters, sixteen years after they were created.
